There was a bright light, and a loud bang. The raging storm was violent and relentless. It put fear into a little child. So much so, that he could not sleep. He was staying at his Grandfather's house, because his dad was out of town. This was not an abnormal occurrence, as the child's father was the head of a very large company. The father's company was the largest company on earth. It was a multi-Trillion dollar business, and it had a monopoly on everything from toys to computers. But enough about the business.
Hero

Hello. My name is Gregory, though I suppose you can call me Greg for short. It is interesting sometimes when fate calls you to do something you don't want to do. But then you realize in the end that somehow it was all for the better. Hmm. I have had my quarrel with fate before. Indeed, before I was a very wealthy young man; it was forty years ago, and I was 22. Through my parents I was very wealthy. I pretty much owned my own company and I was living in luxury. Boy, life was good. Though at the time, I remember feeling empty. Something was missing from my life. Or at least I realized this after I had lost everything. There is a saying that a man is not truly a man unless he has dealt with humility. Never heard it? Well, that's because the person who said it doesn't exist.

Sleeping — though necessary, I try to avoid it completely.
The things I see are too frightening, things that can easily be avoided by neglecting an essential state of consciousness.
